A citação abaixo me agradou tão profundamente que resolvi coloca-la aqui. O trecho reflete sobre esta característica básica do ser humano, que é a de estar situado concretamente dentro de si mesmo e abstratamente (essa foi a melhor palavra que encontrei, mas lógico que é insatisfatória) fora de si mesmo.

I can watch myself and my actions, just like an outsider. The Anne of every day I can face entirely without prejudice, without making excuses for her, and watch what’s good and what’s bad about her.
